Let's talk for a moment about what NOT to do.

www.wheelerauto.com. I ran this website, did the eBay listings, sold vehicles and managed for him for over 2 years (my name is still present in at least 12 of the references he has on his site) . He knew almost nothing about eCommerce and the web, despite the fact that the legal name of his company is Wheelerauto.COM. During the interview, I even guessed his passwords correctly. Wow! In December of 2005, 20% of his sales came directly from the website due to Google searches, because of code I had written into his site. It came up on the first page of Google for "E150 Cargo Van", "Isuzu NPR", "C2500 work truck", "Knapheide Bed", "Ford Commercial Vehicles" and many more very broad categories and on national searches. At the time, his site looked different, the alignments were all correct, it was clean, colors were better, pictures actually worked, code was correct, etc. Now, you cannot find wheelerauto.com unless you do a search down to the Springfield level. Half of his listings have broken links, half have pictures that do not show. These type of mistakes will get you moved directly to the bottom in the search engines. The pictures that are there are of marginal quality (I bought my own $350 camera to use as his employee because the ones he had were so bad and wrote to 3.5 inch floppies, he's very "frugal". Yes, there is animosity). You can also see where the code that drives the site has been incorrectly entered, showing up as remnants on several pages. Basically, it all comes down to this. If you want to be an eCommerce company, and the most you can do is to answer your email, and cut and paste, then hire a professional to do the other parts for you, pay them enough to keep them happy, and they will make it appear to the rest of the world as if you really know what you are doing. If your site looks and operates as badly as wheelerauto.com, get in touch with me. I would love to help, especially if you are one of his competitors.

A note: As hard as it is for me to do, I really must thank him for treating me as he did. Without that motivation, I would not be where I am now, working for myself. Out of adversity come our greatest triumphs. Thank you!
